Last Saturday I saw a Canon user with a monopod, he had some type of "ring" that allowed him to turn his camera horizontal or vertically very quick and easily...I was unable to catch up with him and still take my own pictures, what is that ring called, and do you know where they are for sale?
Thanks

It was probably a ballhead or something similar mounted on the monopod. You can get them at www.bhphotovideo.com.

Possible a camera pivot ring type flash bracket like the ones from Custom Brackets. But, I haven't seen them used on a monopod.

Was the monopod mounted to the camera or to the lens? If it was mounted to the lens, then what you're describing is a lens collar. Some lenses come with them and others don't. For example, the 70-200 f/4L is not sold with the collar, which must be purchased separately.

Yes, probably just the lens collar. Loosen it slightly and you can quickly rotate your camera to any angle without the need for an accessory and more importantly the balance of the lens is unaffected.

You could do that with either the lens collar or the right ballhead.

Custom Brackets does sell just the rotating part of their flash bracket.
