Anyone ever meet up to try others gear? Say, someone ( like myself) that is still learning to have the advantage of meeting a more experience photographer and trying other gear to learn some tricks while out on vacation or as some say (holiday)? The reason I ask is that I see many out there with some fantastic gear that I and probably many others do not have access to unless they buy it. By using some of the gear ( owner present of course ) a person can really get a feel for what they might need vs. want. I have only two camera shops in town ( that I know of) that keep " L " lenses in stock. They only have one or two at a time. It is fine and dandy to try it in a store but to actually be on a shoot is so different. Just thought I would put it out there........ I guess an example of this is The Elk ordeal...LOL

If this has been thrown around before I do apologize in advance!

Yeah, but I've only done it with friends, mostly back in my film days, although I do have a friend with a 1Ds who has let me borrow his L lens to try on my 5D.

Woulda given almost anything to borrow a guys 300D I saw carrying at the beach in florida during the thanksgiving holiday just for one or two pictures of the ocean. While my 5D is at the hospital I had to use one of my older digitals which takes really grainy pictures :( - heck, coulda been a person on this board too.

There are often meet-ups being discussed in General Chat, to which I've moved this.

Iv used lots other members gear, unforunatly all it did is make me want a 20D even more than I do. (not a bad thing, unless your my credit card).

Just keep an eye on this forum, and if there is nothing coming up in your area then start your own meet.
POTN is big enough now that there is a high chance there is somewhere else near you.
