I just got a Lexar 80x 1gb card. When I put it in the 1D it shows the shots remaining to be about the same as my 512 mb card. I see in windows it is a 1gb card. Am I missing something, I have tried the F8 settings but dont seem to be able to see what I thought I would.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Did you reformat the card in the camera?

My standard answer for such "problem"... is your frame count close to 9999? :) If so, reset frame count and see difference. I believe there might be something else but in 99% of such cases this really is solution... unfortunately this is based on my own experiences :)

Quote from my workmate's Lexar 1GB 80x Box (which arrived this morning)
" A 30 day trial of Photo Mechanic from Camera Bits is preloaded onto this Compact Flash card. Please copy the software onto your PC before reformatting the card."
Hmmmmmmm.

If you need the software then copy it off to a PC using a card reader.
You've got to format the card to use it in the camera.
That's just the way it is.
