For a college project i have been looking a the light of the city at night and playing with long exposures. I love capturing light trials as you can tell!

What do you think of these 3 ??

I like the last one because of the turn signal :)

I too like the last one since the bus stopped, so it kinda seems eerie. Very good shots though, I like them. :)

I love the effect you've captured, the light trails are great........particularly in #1 where the effect is almost organic. However for me angle doesn't work, perhaps if it was more in parrallel with the road........in #2 I would like to see the first light pole complete as I think it would balance the shot better.....#3 is great as it is, well done.

Nice effect - a mate of mine live in West Bridgford but I can't pick him out on the bus!

The first one looks like something has gone barreling down the rooad throwing off lots of sparks

Cool shots

Nice shots! That third one is my favorite, one of the more unusual time exposures I've seen of this sort.

Nice work! #3 is my favourite.

I can't find them now, but I once took some long exposure shots from the bridge by the QMC, looking down on the dual carriage way. I'd suggest trying there if you ever get the chance.

thanks everyone.

I was very lucky with the third one. It was about a 30 sec exposure and the bus pulled away and towards me at about 20 secs...

Personally i really like no.1 as it reminds me a bit of the creature created from water in the film ' The Abyss'

Great shots, I have yet to play with long shutter speeds on my XT, (no tripod)
I'm wondering if using a polarizing filter would eliminate the reflections off the body's and give you a cleaner image, strickly lightposts and headlight trails??

I like the effect of the reflections however.

(EDIT) I see you have a P-2000, I'm thinking about getting one, are you happy with the P-2000? Or do you think it's worth waiting for the p-4000? (It's double the storage capacity)

I like 'em all a lot but for a college person you should be able to spell TRAILS. :-) If you have trains in your area they are often excellent long exposure targets.

I thought that at first, but you did it more than once! I make lots of typos but try to get my titles fixed since that's what draws people. I might skip trials but probably not skip trails. It is not a big deal.
