Out on a little daytrip...

First, in Queens, facing west, leaning a bit out from the train platform. (Don't try this at home, kiddies :D).

Second, a weak attempt at urban art :p

hey
first image is nice but maybe if you tryed it again with a higher shutter speed?...

and the panning shot nicely done, but my self i would of went for the front of the cab.

Looks like you were on Queens Boulevard in that first shot. That second shot is really happening, would have loved to see the full cab length though. Thanks for sharing!

Heh, you don't stand in front of a NYC cab...ever. :p

But I see what your saying. I thought maybe that cutting off a bit of the cab would further reflect "speed".

Either that or I was slow on the trigger... :)

Yes, the train pic was taken on the 40th St 7 train platform (elevated train, for those from elsewhere) facing west along Queens Blvd. I was trying to get motion blur from the train while keeping the rest in focus. Sadly I didn't have my tripod with me so I could take a longer exposure, so ended up with just a mildly blurry train. :/ The haze around the Empire State Buildings was horrendous. I was surprised it was even visible.

why do they drive with their lights on during the day?

It's a safety issue. Part of the train's path is underground too.
