I had a chance to get up in the air and get some shots of Kansas City. I had one card and a half hour in the air. So I shot in auto mode a lot and in jpg large format. Here are a couple of images I shot. Please feel free to save the images and check them out. What did I do wrong, what can I do to improve these and can these images be improved? I'll never use auto again. My camera was clueless. (20D). Most of my shots came out like the last pic. All washed out  .

Thanks.

My quick and dirty attemp of one of them....a little PS Elements..

They look viable. The haze is a pain though and I don't think there is anything you could have done about that...please correct me if I'm wrong.

Tried 3 or 4 different techniques to bring up the density, and ended up with abou the same results on each. Here is the easiest, which I believe you can do in PSE. Since you have several to do, you could save the steps as an action, that way you can processes each one with only 1 click.

Duplicate Layer
Set blending mode to Multiply
Flatten Image
Auto Levels

Sky needed a bit of a quick fix also.....probably not right color for that time of day and maybe also a bit strong but at least it shows what can be done to fix washed out areas.

Well, I'm impressed. Thanks for the help! I will apply these ideas and try to save some of my photos. Next. I'm gonna slow down and try not to take 200 photos in 20 minutes and get 5 good ones. I'll take 50 photos and get 30-40 good ones.

I'll take 50 photos and get 30-40 good ones.

If you can do THAT, you could be teaching me! I got 5 good photos last year, and that was out of about 10,000!

My keeper percentage is about 70%. And I like to print 4x6 of my keepers. Unless I'm taking a lot of a certain thing for special use. Then I compare all I shot of it and delete the others.
