I purchased a G2 twenty months ago, have taken 11,000 pics with it. I had grown very dissatisfied with it for various reasons: poor focussing, many overexposures, hard to use manual focus, slow operation, and more. As well, I had things go wrong with two of them: the first died, and was replaced. The replacement G2's LCD panel does not display when folded back against the body. Haven't bothered to get it fixed yet.
I was ready to go out and buy a completely different make. But no one else has a flip-out LCD except Nikon 5700 and it's smaller! And I use the flip-out for 99% of my shots.
So... much to my surprise :) I ended up buying a G3.
Well, after 250 pics yesterday, I am very happy. Canon has fixed pretty well all of the issues that the G2 had. The focussing is much better, faster, and the manual focussing is useable. The camera is faster, and the added features are great. I like the ability to add a sound file to a pic. This is very useful for me.
Another major improvement I like is that the G3 is a lot less slippery to hold. I was always worrying about the G2 sliding out of my hand. The G3 software is vastly improved. Zoom is better, deeper (4x) and the preview zoom is enhanced.
I'm sure you all know the features that the G3 has, so I'll shut up now. I'm just listing the things I like! :)

All in all, I am very satisfied with the G3!

Welcome to the party! Have any shots you'd like to share with the new g3?
