My sons team played a game last week and I took some shots. I was able to shoot from the bench with the kids. I was using a 300d and my new Sigma 70-200 2.8f ISO 800 1/400. Tell me what you like and don't like about these pictures. I want to get better  Thankshttp://www.shutterfly.com/jsp/proceserv.jsp?uid=2cYuGjNig&rostate=67b0de21bed7b22715c2&co=-1&js=1133539167756&ps=3&rs=6http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b5cf08b3127cce95915625c6ed00000016102cYuGjNightt p://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b5cf08b3127cce95916030c6e300000016102cYuGjNig

very nice shots. more face in the picture would be nice, but that's difficult from the bench as the offensive plays are all away from you (get face shots on the defensive plays).

to get action shots with faces, when shooting from the bench or penalty box, look for the defensive breakout, look for an open forward in the neutral zone to get a pass. Or to get a face shot of your team's D, look for the other team to have posession with the D skating backwards away from you.

My tossed-out shots are 1/2 out of focus, 1/4 no faces, and other 1/4 just plain missed the action. And it's a lot of tossed shots !!!

I like these shots. The second and third are my favorites. As already mentioned faces are great to have in the shots. The second shot is a great action shot. Ice in the air, goalie stretched out and concentrating. My only complaint is that you can not see the puck but that is not your fault. I think is the best shot of the three. The third shot is a classic one on one shot and gives a great fealing of the sport. The composition is great and I love how the goalie and entire net are in the background. Great shots and thanks for sharing them.

I like the 3rd one the best. The whole thing is set off with the goalie in the background waiting for his turn..

Don't show this pic to the defensemans coach. he is watching the puck, not the man:oops:

These are all excellent quality. The rest will all come in time . The more you shoot the better you will get. Wou might want to try shooting one period from th4e bench and another moving around the rink. you can get son pretty good shots throught the glass at with a lot of diffent angles. The key is to experiment as much as possible. I see some Nice shots and a lot of potential here. I really like your shot of the goallie with the water bottle as well, because you can see that he is getting a real workout. You captured a look or wemotion. I think that photo is great.
