Hi. Im a newbie to the G3, and this discussion forum. I got my G3 about 3 weeks ago just before we went on vacation. I made a last minute purchase decision after reading web reviews, and a lot of positive remarks on this forum. I was sweating the decision though because of the price range (when you add in all the accessories....)! I HAD to have it for my trip to New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and then back home to Texas. We had a lot of fun on our trip and I tried to learn as much as I could about the G3 while enjoying myself on vacation.
This is our first digital camera. Our other camera is an old Minolta X-7A SLR which takes excellent pictures if we manage not to screw them up. We wanted a digital camera so that we wouldn't have to deal with the hassle of developing film, hope for a great photo, then go thru the scanning process before we could post them or email them to family & friends. I'd have to say that so far, I love our G3. HOWEVER..... I noticed a missing pixel, not on the lcd viewer, but the final image. I exchanged it for a new one from the dealer (paid for 2nd day delivery on the return!) and the replacement camera had TWO missing pixels! I asked the dealer to please check the 3rd camera out first before shipping it to me. My first experience with buying from an out of state dealer. :( Here's hoping I can get a good one this time!
Sorry to be so long winded! Had to get my intro in and post some G3 feedback.
Hello everyone... I hope to share some photo experiences with you and learn a lot here.
Another G3 newbie... :)

Hello, Leafpile (cute handle, by the way),

Welcome. You will feel at home in no time. Everyone here is friendly and kind (unlike the real world at times)
:)

Hopefully third time's the charm for you in regards to your G3. You'll have it in no time and your love affair will begin.

Best,
Diane/anomie

Welcome Aboard, Leafpile!

A suggestion: If you have purchased a printer and are beginning to print lots of pics, buy yourself some ink.
I have found the cheapest prices at Nerds.
Once again, welcome.

Welcome. Enjoy your G3. Remember this quote always:

"Only a poor craftman blames his tools for his lack of creativity."

It's not the camera that makes the image, its the photographer. :)

anomie, TimNYC24, and dagger,

Thank you all for the warm welcome! Im looking forward to using my G3 and talking with you all about photography.
Diane - Yes lets hope 3rd times the charm! I gotta talk to the store manager today and make sure they will check a new camera for me before shipment. It's not just the cost of shipment but the w a i t i n g.... :)
Tim - I havent done much printing yet just viewing the jpegs on my 19" monitor. I'm sure I'll need lots of ink sooner or later though.
dagger - Nice words of wisdom!

Meanwhile, I have NO camera until I get my replacement. I am forcing myself NOT to look at any beautiful flowers, scenery, etc... It will only make things worse for me. :)

Hi Leafpile,
I am a somewhat newbie too, still learning about the G3. Welcome to the forum! There are some really smart people on this forum who always give great answers to silly questions, so don't be afraid to ask!
