Today I got me 4th G3 delivered to me. The first one had a pretty severe tilt that was very noticeable in just about every picture I took except for landscape shots at a distance. I returned that one and tried 2 more at the same store but those also has the tilt. One was not as severe and other was just as bad as the first one I bought so I left the store with no camera.

The one I received today still has the tilt but it is less severe than the first one I had. This G3 failed the mirror test. It failed the level test. At this point I'm pretty sensitive to the tilt issue so I'm not sure if I'll be happy unless I get one that shoots absolutely straight and level pics.

Am I being too picky and should I just settle for a G3 that takes slightly crooked pics? I feel like a $700 camera should be held to a higher standard than a $300 one and that when paying that kind of money there is a certain expectation that I'll be getting a quality product.

Canon has sure let me down as far as quality control is concerned. Maybe I just wait until the G5 hits the shelves and see. At least I can play with this one for a while cause I've got a pretty liberal return policy on this one.

How about posting a sample picture so we can see what you are talking about. But please resize the original to something like 800x600 or 600x480 so it doesn't take forever to download. :)

This is a pic from the first camera I returned.

The one I received today is not as bad. The first 3 cameras were from the same retailer. The one I received today is from a different retailer. There are enough complaints from people across the U.S. about the tilted pics that this problem is not just isolated to one area. It is definitely a quality control issue with Canon.

The one constant is that the pics all tilt in the same direction.

"NOT AS BAD," is still unacceptable for MY $$$$$$

Get yer jingle back, and purchase the camera someplace else !!
