Nice picture - everything smacks of being old - that's one of the charms of England to me.

Nice shot. I assume that's a roman aquaduct (?). If so, it's really old.

OMG! I know that viaduct so well. I used to live in South Luffenham and had a friend in Caldecott and we'd drive through the viaduct everytime I went to visit her. I'm recalling the road goes through arch number 86 or something like that. I know there is a LOT more arches to the left of your shot, do you have a shot in that direction showing the length of the viaduct you could post?
Oh what memories this brings back. Great shot BTW.

No mate it would be built in Victorian times and used to transfer a Canel across a lower plain because it was too big or impractable to have a lock system, they were the motorways of the Victorian days

Jut got this one Lindsey

This was taken on the Gretton road at about arch number 8, the scaffolding you can just see is about half way, near the Seaton road, is that the one you used?
Anyway going back soon to have another go.
I think i need a higher viewpoint as hedgerows go through the viaduct.
Anybody got any suggestions on how to shoot this sort of thing?
Thanks Terry.

Thank you! You've made me feel quite homesick, even though Canada has been my home for almost 24 years now. Yes I used the Seaton Rd. Not sure I recall being down the other end but I know the Gretton, had a friend there too.

It would be hard to get a single shot that shows the size of viaduct. Have you tried a panoramic with stitched shots? I recall as we approached from Barrowden there's a higher viewpoint that might offer a panoramic.

This viaduct actually carries a railway track for the Midland Railway.

I'd like to see Alan Titchmarsh make that disappear with some subtle planting! :)
