in everyones opinion based on not on looks of camera but performance and equipment quality(like better lense, software, features, etc) what is everyones opinion on both camera. i had the s50 for a while and got the g3 but still having doubts on this whole thing. i need to learn more on how to improve my ability of photography. thing is this is my first ever digi camera. and i thought the s50 would cut what suited me. well i really like the shots but since i had it the night shots were somewhat harder than the g3 which are still too but more forgiving. i am completely lost, i need to learn more on the g3 capabilities comparing them to the s50 capabilities?

Hold down your CTRL button and select both the s50 and g3 from the list. Click on the "show" button and you'll have a side by side comparison.
if there are any components within this compare utility that you are unsure about, feel free to ask - someone will be able to assist.

From my experiences, allow me to recite two cliches :)
Too much analysis leads to paralysis.
Just Do it.

ok few questions on
1. autofocus accuracy? aiaf ttl 9point compare that to the g3. is 9 point better?
2. aperture range?
3. max shutter?
4. continous drive
5. movie clips? are they the same?
6. compression format? exif 2.2(s50) exif g3. one better than other?
7. lcd pixels? are they the same?
8. micro range?
all these are the major differences in exception to one being like 5.12 meg and the g3 3.9 meg.

I considered buying an S50, instead of the G3, but the G3's hotshoe, flip-and-twist LCD, remote control, and ability to easily use my 58mm filters (with a $15 LA-DC58B adapter) made the G3 the obvious choice.
But that's just for me. Not everyone has a use for those features. And the camera that suits me best, may be a terrible choice for someone else.
