Is there something better than the 1Ds coming out soon?

I'm noticing a drop in price for the 1Ds. Does anyone know if Canon is about to release something even better than the 1Ds anytime soon?

Of course there is. Canon will not stand by and watch the world of photographic technology pass them by. They are the leader.

There will always be something better. Personally, the 6.5mp sensors deliver all the detail I need. I can do stunning 20x30 enlargements and that's more than I ever did with 35mm. As far as I'm concerned, film is dead.

When Canon releases its next Big Gun it wil be at one of the big conventions,. either Photokina or PMA

I can't remeber the dats of these show,. one is in March? and the other around October or November I think?

Don't expect to see a camera released before one of these conventions,. and even when they show them off at the show,. there is still a wait before actual release.

The way it has been going,. the "affordable" models have been released around March three years in a row (D30, D60, 10D )

Whreas the pro models,.. 1D and 1Ds were both released in the fall. ... so it is possible we are due to see another high end 1D type around october,. but I have heard no rumours of any.

Nor has any competition released anything to challenge the 1Ds yet. (the Kodak is hardly a "threat") and Nikon's D1 series is aging compared to Canon's 1D series.
