Sadly today I sent my G3 in for repairs. I hope this won't be a lengthy process. I have only had her for about 2 1/2 months. These were her symptoms:
The first problem is that there seems to be a smudge on the inside of the lens. It has been showing up whenever a picture with a light background is taken. For example water or sky pictures. I did clean the outside of the lens but the smudge still appears. Enclosed you will find a picture as an example.
The second problem is with the hotshoe. Whenever I remove my 420ex from the hotshoe, the camera detects it still being there causing the external flash not to fire, or come on at all for that matter.
The third problem involves the display panel. In direct sunlight in the middle of the side closest facing the lens, the panel appears to have some of the pixels missing, resulting in kind of a rainbow type cast on the panel, causing a similar image as that of pressing on the display screen of a calculator.
The fourth problem is my aperture settings in AV mode I will set it to for example F4.0 and when I take the shot it jumps to another setting such as F5.6. This doesn’t occur every time, but has happened to me several times.
