View Full Version : Press Conference - Mötley Crüe in Sydney

Last friday I was called upon to shoot the Mötley Crüe press conference, held @ the Intercontinental Hotel. Not having done this kind of thing before it was pretty nerve-wracking (give me the first three songs in a stadium venue any day). I used my 20D & 28-75mm Tamron and my shiny new 580EX speedlite. The results could have been better, but could have been a lot worse.
Sidenote - Tommy Lee, as he entered the room, was pointing out all the Canon users.
Comments and constructive criticism is always gratefully recieved.
The rest of the series is available online @ www.fasterlouder.com.au (http://www.fasterlouder.com.au/photos/051202-motleycrue) or on my website www.rocksluts.net.au (http://www.rocksluts.net.au).

I do like this one despite the fact that I caught the edge of another photographer's 17-40 f/4 L in the rush.

Again great shots Angus, these guys still look cool and very real.

With all that ink and hair I understand why Bike likes them! :-) If you didn't know who they were and met them on the street what would you think? :-) Interesting, interesting! I think good images, Angus.

These guys are playing here in April... I'm definitely going to try and get that. By then I should have my 20D!

Good shots. You did pretty well. Why was he pointing out all the canon users?
PS: did you get to shoot any of the actuall concert?

Thanks for the feedback, Nidz.
As I understand it, Tommy Lee has become a bit of a photography buff. As for the concert, unfortunately I was unable to because I was shooting Homebake festival @ The Domain. I'd post Homebake photos, but I had to sign a very restrictive release, limiting where I can publish them. If you want to check out the Homebake photos, out they are published at www.fasterlouder.com.au (http://www.fasterlouder.com.au) (direct link not available at the moment, in fact the gallery seems to be up and down!).

Thanks Roger. Even though I'm normally really blase about being close to rockstars, it was a total thrill to get so close to them. Have you read their autobiography, "The Dirt"? It was an awesome read!

Thanks Dwight, it was an enourmous weekend for me. I'm glad you like them.

About 2-3m from Tommy Lee for most of the conference. Cheers!

Ahh ok cheers. Well you did a good job on them anyway. Tommy Lee dosen't look like the kind of guy who'd be into or have the time for photography although he has stared in a few of his own home movies and photos...
