Hi..
I just bought this camera and a 128 MB CF card. The 16 MB CF card won't do much.. LOL.
Now I'm a ble to buy 512 and 1 GB CF cards at work for approx. ½ price (in Denmark). But when looking in the manual I'm only able to se reffrences to 256 MB CF cards. canon's own high priced ones... heheh :-D
Will the Canon A70 be able to use 512 MB and more importantly 1 GB CF cards.....??
Will i have to update the firmware or what ??
Am I simply not reading the manual. Can't seem to find it in there anywhere...
Kind Regards
BTW: this camera is simply one of the best I have ever used.... and it is affordable...

Seen in an earlier post (last couple of days) that, according to Canon, the A70 doesn't support grater than 256Mb or type2 (so thats the microdrive out-the-window)
Sorry
If I find it I'll post the link

since you got a 256 CF, i suggest you go for the largest format your camera can give you. this way, you'll never have to regret not taking a pic with the largest format if you happen to take a shot you like best and want to print it big time. large formats likewise give you enough room for cropping out unwanted parts of the pics without compromising the quality of the pic.
besides, it is a digicam afterall. you can always delete the pictures you dont like after taking the shots.

I called Canon UK and was told a 512 card would work just fine so I bought one for £80n from scan.co.uk
The bad news is it's only actuall 490MBytes - ok, ok so its 514000000 Bytes!
The good news is it seems to work just fine - I've used it to take a couple of movie clips and half a dozen pics.
It say it will take 310 pics in large format superfine mode
it says it will take 999 secs of 320*210 movies
Time will tell. If I get any problems I'll be sure to post them to this forum.

I didn't want to get a 1G card as I don't want to put all my eggs in one basket. I already have a 64 and a 128 card left from the dying A20 so I will probably buy another 512 before I go on holiday. That way it will be harder for one mishap to cost me all my pics!

I use the Sandisk 1GB CF and it seems to work just fine. It's nice to go on holiday and not have to worry about changing CFs. Wish batteries would last as long.
Good luck.
