There are some local Flickr groups that get together in the Detroit area. They will be getting together in downtown Detroit on the 13 th to take some evening Christmas light pictures. The only drawback is you may find yourself in a group of Nikon users.

I think we should plan a group trip to any place that interests photographers like museums or aquariums , cityscape, events etc. That's been brought up several times in this thread, & I've suggested how you can reach all the members. At times, someone has done it. I seldom see "we" do it, though. ;).

Hi everyone!!

Im Chris! Im new here and to photography! As of now, im at Central Michigan University! My home town anytime other than the school year is Marysville. Its about 8 miles south of Port Huron right on the St.Clair River. So those in Sarnia im right across the river from you, or about a 15 minute drive!

Anyone around the Mt. Pleasant area, im always looking for a shooting partner!

I also frequent GVSU and Grand Rapids due to my girlfriend. She is into photography too!

Late notice, but if anyone's playing hooky tomorrow, I think me and my dad are doing an early morning trip to Belle Isle to catch the sunrise, and get some shots of the ice flows and other random stuff. What can I say, it's the only perk of being a victim to the infamous 'tap on the shoulder' at work.

DVW, I haven't been out shooting much because of the weather lately. I'm going up to Glen Arbor (Traverse City area) this weekend with my wife and two other couples. I'll bring my equipment and see what happens.

I don't know of too many places to get great shots around here, but up north is a different story. Maybe this Spring we can get others around here (Grand Haven, Cedar Springs, etc...) to get out and shoot !!!

What do you mean not proud of it? Cedar Springs has the best red flannel longjohns made on earth. I'd think the back flaps on them are just awesome! :D:D:D

Found out that Warren De La Salle and Grose Pointe South is facing off today at 5:30 for a hockey playoff in the Superior rink at Great Lakes (Fraser Ice). Anyone happen to be shooting it? I've been itching for a chance to test my Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 since I got it recalibrated with some indoor sports, so I think I'm going to go shoot it.

I'm looking for people who would like to start a local Potn T.C group.
Bummer, looks like the closest guy to me got banned. hmmm. :(

I've been studying photography for a few years now, just getting really serious with it all. Maybe I'm a little more daring with equipment than most of you. I like elevated views so a 40' telescoping mast, Remote Control Airplane and Helicopter are part of my tool box. A kite is also on the way.

Jon, I didn't know you were a shooter too! Dang... A couple of weekends ago there was a IDPA shoot in Linden. Jonathan and I shot the shooters but we were way behind them. Plus it rained pretty good so I didn't feel like getting wet and freezing. Not a lot of keepers but fun any way.

There is a closed down prison on 5 Mile just west of Beck, it's just now getting really overgrown and in 5 years it will be prime for a shoot I suspect.

Yeah, barns would be sweet. I really want to shoot this fallen barn off M-36 about 5-6 miles west of US-23 the barn is cool, but there is also a block building and a trailer and all sorts of junk.

Problem is it's in the middle of a field, right by the road. So there isn't anywhere to park other then on the shoulder of the road and the local police drive by all day long. I'll have to find a place to park early one morning and make a 1/2 mile trek...

That is so annoying. I know of a bunch of places to get barn shots but same situations. Or I'm just like, oh I'll get that later. I know at least one or two are going to fall and I'm going to kick myself in the ass.

Chauncey, why would you move here? Coming from Colorado? Yikes! I want to move to Colorado!

I work in Oakland (on Silverbell) which is right next to Rochester. I don't know of any clubs in the area. But there are several guys close enough together that we can have some get togethers for shooting.

Originally (and still my permanent address) from Greenville (over by Cedar Springs, Rockford and Grand Rapids). Parents and girlfriend still live there so I visit often.

Go to school at Central Michigan University studying Information Technology with a hopefull graduation of May 2010.

Currently (until mid-august) reside in Jackson working at Consumers Energy as an Intern for the summer.

Looking for some stuff to do this summer and things to shoot, so PM me if you have any ideas.

Some of the things I like to shoot are candid portrait type, as well as cars and nature. Basically anything. I go to car shows a lot with my girlfriends dad which got me into shooting that.

I am also going up to Mackinaw in a week and hope to take some beautiful shots up there as well.

Just bought my XS in February but have been a hobbyist since I was a youngin :)

bsmall, I was in Greenville just this afternoon. My wife "made" me stop at Arnie's scrapbook store. O well, she did take me to the pizza buffet at B.C.'s pizza though. :):) Arnie's is pretty nice as far as scrapbook stores go. They have a very nice frame shop.

I'm from White Lake, Michigan near Waterford off M-59 and the big rivalry game is not going as hoped - Michigan is LOSING today! Argh!

PM me if interested in a local gathering in White Lake, Waterford, Clarkston, West Bloomfield, Farmington Hills, Novi or somewhere near these cities. I'm thinking of starting up a local meet for avid POTN lurkers since the weather is turning cold on us and some of us are about to go into hybernation! Lol!
