Hi Gang,

What a great and friendly forum!

I'm trying to convince my wife we need a 10D. Where can I veiw some incredible sample photos taken with the 10D that will convince her that we need to sell our Sony CD300?

Thanks!

Rob

Hi Rob,

Here is a quick shoot using the 10D taken in one morning near where I live.

Here are two examples of mine showing the quality from the 10D (down-sized and jpeged)

Try getting close enough to the bird with your current camera for that shot. And yes it is a real bird (had a few people think it was plastic).

http://www.longwatcher.com/images/yard-red%20bird.jpg

Stupid flower shot, but I like it. The actual flower is less then 3/4" (2cm) in size and I could blow the print up to 16x24 with no loss in quality from what you see on the screen.

I do have some people shots on my site, but a lot of them will probably not help your case any.

Lastly,
I have to let you now, the real problem is not convincing her to let you buy the camera, it is getting her to let you buy all the cool lenses and accessories that go with it :-)

Highly recommend not mentioning this part until after you have the camera. For convincing her the lenses are not expensive start with the 50/1.8. And under no circumstances mention "L" glass ;-)

Just tell your wife what you've always been telling her..."bigger is better". When she looks at you funny, tell her you are talking about megapixels and lenses!!

he he he :)

Hi,

I'm a new 10D user, here's some of my shots. You will love this baby and welcome to the party.

My wife was a bit skeptical too ("what's wrong with our Sony 4 megapixel?), but I went ahead and bought the 10D anyway, mostly to take photos of our daughter. The first day we had the camera my wife took my favorite photo of our daughter ever, without knowing how to use the camera. If you go to www.pbase.com/peterm1, the shot is called "Noellefavoritecopy" in the family gallery. Most of the photos were taken with a 10D (look how sharp the animal photos are), and I am a real amateur.

I used the 10D at a relative's wedding (I was not the official photographer), and they couldn't believe how well the photos came out.

The 10D has really encouraged me to learn a lot more about photography, and while my Sony DSC-S85 was good, there is no comparison.

Beware the extra costs, though, especially lenses! I bought the 24-85mm Canon lens, which is highly recommended as a sharp all-around lens ($300 at B&H).

Good luck.

I love the pics! Especially the baby...We just had a son...all the reason more to buy the camera.

Where did you purchase your camera from? I'm trying to sort out the zillions of online camera stores. I've heard story after story about getting ripped off.

I like B&H, but I don't like paying sales tax (because I live in NY). Are there any other stores with similar prices/quality?

Thanks again for all of the amazing pictures.

Rob

Go to www.pricegrabber.com
search for 10D
pick any store with similiar price to B&H.

Ritz Camera and PC Connection are probably safe ones from the search I just did.

The only ones I can personally vouch for are buydig (more expensive) and B&H.

I presume You can't just drive to B&H and pick it up there saving on shipping. (be sure to leave wife behind ;-)

Here are a couple of the best images I have taken with the 10D:

I have owned a number of Professional film SLRs - I am very happy with this digital SLR. Of course, one could nit pick, it is not quite as fast as a pro SLR - but I have altered my shooting to compensate.

Keep in mind that there is a learning curve to obtain the best image quality. This is not a point and shoot.

Hope that helps.

This is one of the strongest qualities of the 10d that few people talk about. It's ability to shoot at high iso's and still be very clean. This is 400 speed and unretouched only cropped. This is not only a high quality camera but very versatile. Good luck!

PS - If she says no just buy it anyway...they get over it;)

Hi

I have recently puchased a Canon EOS 10D and use a Canon EF 28-105mm USM lens that I purchased a few years ago with my Canon EOS 5.

All the galleries from May 2003 on my website have pictures taken using the Canon EOS 10D.

I hope you'll find some that will convince your wife to let you buy this cameara as it is fantastic.

Sometimes a killer-argument could be photos of cute children. Documenting your (current or fourtcoming children) with good quality could be a very good argument.

Photos from my 10D with 70-200/4L
