A few images from the last week or so of shooting football in the gathering gloom! Mostly under the lights at jolly old ISO3200, although a couple of shots are in 'daylight' ;)
Some conventional, eyes-closed heading action for starters...

That's close... very close...

Thwarted by the 'keeper, but only just...

The joy of the last minute equaliser...

Time stands still...

A bit more conventional heading stuff...

Is that legal? Not exactly shoulder to shoulder ;) ...

Thanks for looking...

They are good. I don't even like soccer and I like these photos. :)

OK the shot that you titled "time stands still"........AWESOME!!!!!!!! What a great capture. I really like the feeling of that shot. All the others are your usual greatness. But that one really sticks my wicket......or whatever you chaps across the water would say........lol. I don't know how you do it, but your shots are just amazing all the time.

Gavin -- Great stuff as always. I'm with QUASIPHOTO on #6 -- superb and @ 3200 too! So the 400mm f/2.8 is new glass? Congrats!!! I saw in earlier posts that you were using one but I wasn't sure if it was on loan or yours. I'd love to own one of those puppies but I'm afraid I'd have to win the lottery first -- I'd have to hire an assistant to lug it around for me too  .

Top notch as ever Gavin. Did you catch sight of yourself on telly for the Mansfield game?
Also, if you don't mind helping, I did a few night shots in this thread (http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=118807) but don't really know what to do once I get them on the computer. I tend the sharpen them up and use paint shop pro's 'one step photo fix'. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
What do you do?

Excellent shots there, especially considering the lighting.
As for posting here... I just tweak the levels, resize and then sharpen... the key is to sharpen after resizing I think.
I've posted a few bits and bobs on this and other subjects over in the Sports Q&A thread: http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=116971

As usual, stellar work, Gavin. The action is superb and the expressions are worth a thousand words.

I've been sharpening them BEFORE resizing, I'll follow your advice this week and see if it makes a difference. Thanks!

I'm not sure that I've made your wicket sticky but I'm glad that I might have floated your boat ;)
