View Full Version : 350D (XT) kit lens = sloppy mount?

I've noticed recently that with the 18-55 kit lens mounted on my XT the lens is able to move around a little on the mount. It's not HUGE movement, but it is able to move a little bit. It DOES shift a tad when focussing in the mount.

Has anyone else experienced it? Is this a normal thing with the plastic mount of the kit lens? I haven't noticed it with my 50mm f1.8 which also has the plastic mount, and it for sure doesn't do it with my 100-300 with the metal blade. I'm guessing it's a fault with the lens.. but am wondering if anyone else has seen this :(

I've never seen it on mine.

Is the lens. Actually, my image is shaking in the viewfinder if I touch the lens (the kit lens only).
My advice, don't go for a shooting in the evening, if there is wind.

Mine is as solid as a rock. I love using the kit lens to be honest :)

my 18-55 shifts just a bit
50/1.8 shifts much less
70-200 f/2.8 shifts a lot

The best mount is the m42 screwmount. Can't shift that

My 18-55 doesn't move in the mount but the focusing ring is about as solid as a badly made jelly.
