This question for 10D owners.

If you have some money to spend, would you trade yours in for the 1D ($4000) or the 1Ds ($8000)? Why?

I'd buy more lenses. (But if I must choose one of those, then the 1Ds.)

Even though its less than half the price,. I'd keep the 10D over the 1D,. BUT! (thisis assuming that we can't sell or buy anything else) I would love to have the 1D as well as the 10D,. I would use the 1D for all action shots,. sports,. etc. because of its FPS speed.

Of course,. I'd trade the 10D for a 1Ds :D

With eleven megapixels and everything else it is just that much better a camera. But the darned things look so serious,. I might been inhibited about carrying the thing around :)

I had a 1D for close to a year but I developed health problems late in 2002 and was unable to use it. I sold it to a gentleman in Canada who appears to be quite happy with it. In March, having made excellent progress with my health, I bought a 10D. I am sorry I did not keep the 1D and am cosidering getting another one but am waiting for Photokina to see if Canon unleashes a new digital DSLR based on the EOS 3.
If money were not the problem, I would get a 1Ds in a heartbeat and keep the 10D also. In any event, the 10D is an excellent camera and would be worth keeping even if you get a 1D or 1Ds.

Regards, Fred

I will start by saying...I LOVE MY 10D...I have used a canon film camera on a very limited basis my whole life, and then bought a fujifilm s602z digital (which was fun, but unexciting) Since I bought my 10D a month ago, I have become awestruck by the results that I get.

However, I drool over the 11+ megapixels offered by the 1ds. But, I can wait. Surely in a year or two, we will get a full frame sensor camera from canon, whether it be a 1ds or not, at a similar pice as the 10D....and I WILL buy it.

On what, where & how you shoot.

Need/want 8FPS? We ALL know which body offers THAT.

Need FF? Again, only one choice.

Bottom line, everyone's NEEDS/WANTS are different...

I'd give up my 10D in a heartbeat to get my grubby little filth stained mitts on a 1Ds. I come from shooting film through EOS 1 series bodies so the familiar controls and lack of crop would be worth it alone. I'd even pay for a 6MP version of the EOS 1D. It is a far superior body all around. If the 1D didn't have the noise banding issues and a 1.3 crop I'd step down 2MP tomorrow. I might anyway if this focus issue isn't fixed when I finally get my 10D back from canon.
