I recently discovered if I get out to the lake behind my home early in the morning, I can usually find a variety of different birds hanging out. At 7AM this morning, I and came across this young Blue Heron. His bill is closed but the reflection in the water made it appear to be open. I thought that was a pretty interesting phenomenon.

As always, your comments and CC is very much appreciated. :D

Very nice. If that water colour is "real" and not just your impression/enhancement of it, I'd like to join you in your forays to that lake.;)

Wow! I'm kind of surprised with all the nice comments I've gotten here. Thanks everyone.

Petkal, this was actually the color of the early morning light reflecting on the surface of the water this morning. All I did was bring up the saturation level a little, but I didn't change the color temperature at all.

We get a lot of Canadian visitors down here during the winter months. Come on down and we'll take lot's of pictures in the warm Florida climate. :D

Splendid! It's funny how the ripple in the reflection makes the bill of the heron look opened. Love the colours..

Thanks everyone again for your comments.

Bald Eagle, this picture was taken in the small man-made lake behind our home. We live in a development not too far from the Florida Everglades. We regularly get to see native wildlife such as, Anhinga's, Blue Herons, Ospreys, a variety of Turtles and many other species.
