saw its little body strolling near the rocks in a beautiful place on the wicklow mountains
it just had to be a bloody beetle !

Very nice Marie... love the texture and bluish tint. It's a good thing they're not life-sized.

thank you very very much for all your comments
on the bug peter, socal 69 and getg3
: )
and thank you shachar,
re your question
if you look under the photograph
you'll see why its called bloody nosed beetle : )
when the bug is alarmed it exudes red 'blood' from its mouth.
I was sprayed with it !
joke joke
it seemed to be heading for the rocks ,
as I was standing on them when I saw it.
I was taking a photo of goats and looked down and saw the bug , so I jumped down and took a picture of the bug then
: )
best wishes
marie
