Lights in the snow

I took these yesterday evening during the first real snow we've had in this winter. They didn't turn out as good as I'd hoped, but it was an interesting first experiement. I was rushed because it was still snow pretty hard and I didn't want the camera to get wet.

For the vertical shot I think I should have stopped the lens down to increase the depth of field and also framed it differently in the camera. I had to crop it quite a bit in PS to get rid of distractions like a window ledge and a tree. Had I composed it better in the camera I think I would have had more to work with.

I like these. Being 60 miles west of Chicago, in Belvidere, we saw similar scenes last night on our slide home from choir practice. Alas, the camera was not with us.
