SORTA SUCKS!

I am relatively new here and I know rules are here for a purpose, but it really sucks when you want to post a comment on a thread in the Glamour and Nude section, or ask a question only to have a screen come up and tell you that you are not QUALIFIED.

I don't plan to post right now in that section, but I really admire some photo's seen and naturally have comments. I've done his sort of photography and know it's some of the most difficult one can attempt unless the models are perfect. Unfortunately not too many are.

J.A.F Doorhaf, your photo's of Anja are GREAT! I love them and wish you'd tell more on what it took to get them. How many lights, umbrella's, softboxes and other techniques did you use?

I have a five foot Photoflex Octagon coming and am going to add that to my current lighting so I can try this on my wife. I don't like copying techniques, but I sure don't mind learning from them.

I'm sorry this has put you off. Being relatively new here, you missed quite a bit of drama about posting in the Glamour section. You can PM Pekka and request posting privileges to that section.

I doubt that you would get posting privileges merely because you want to comment on images in G&N (however nice that may be). Unless you have some admirable work to post in there (which will be up to the mods to decide), then you'll probably end up having to wait until, as the rules say, you have over 1,000 posts and have been a member for at least 3 months.

When you are a guest in someone's home you obey their rules. If you were as someone's home and you were told not to use the pool table, would you complain to the owner that that "SORTA SUCKS!" that you can't use the pool table. We are all guests in Pekka's home, and we need to act accordingly. Part of that included accepting the rules. However, the great freedom of the Internet is that you can put up a Canon message board any time you want, where your rules are the ones in play. Feel free.

You know I can walk outside in 20 below weather and say it "sorta sucks". I can complain at 100 degrees and say it "sorta sucks". I can complain that the traffic to work during rush hour "sorta sucks".

I am acting accordingly and accepting the rules, but nothing stops me from saying that "it sorta sucks" if I try to post and get denied. I already said that I understand rules, and I accept them as I'm sure they are there for good reasons. I feel like I've been reprimanded but I wasn't trying to stir anything up by what I said. I am concentrating on glamour right now in shots I am taking so it "sorta sucks" that I can't have a two way conversation on the subject.

I'm a guest here so I will politely abide by the rules. I also inderstand that there are many other resources on the web so I have no intention of starting up my own Canon sight just to create my own rules.

That's tough to deal with at any age. I never had grandparents...they were all gone before I was old enough to know who they were. On the other hand, my parents lived well into their nineties, and dealing with their passing was still difficult.

I'm really sorry to hear about your grandmother. She's at peace now, and hopefully you will come to recognize that soon.

Sorry about your grandmother but I think my point is being taken wrong. It's not just a nude section, it's glamour also. I thought I explained my point better than that but since I haven't I won't say anything more. Thanks.

guess we have to be grateful for what was for a while even

I never knew my grandparents
and my mother died when I was 19, my father 10 years later

If it's about being denied privilages in that section I'm really OK as my current model who is my wife won't allow me to post her photo's anyway. I don't think I'll be losing any sleep over this one...

I just got on. Sorry to hear you had the responsibility to find and report on your grandmother's passing. Think teenagers have lots to deal without such awful life experiences. I have 4 sons, one is 17 right now and going through a lot. He loves his grandmas and would have been devastated. Talking about it is really the best way to let the awfulness change into healing. Thanks for sharing. And really, life is great. You've got so many great memories and hopefully, lots of great pictures of her. :)

I'm really sorry about your Grandmother. :( It's really sad about her passing and doubly sad about you finding her. That must have been absolutely terrible and I'm sorry you had to go through such a horrible experience. They say that "time heals all" and it's true in part but you'll never forget that experience.

Take care of yourself and get help from someone you respect if you can.
