It snowed very heavily in New England today and luckily stopped by 3 or so. I went outside and managed to get some shots while the snow was still fresh.Came back all cold and wet :) Sharing the good ones here. Please comment/critique.

Thanks River Cottage! I think the first ones my favourite too. It does have that abandoned feeling to it and i played a little with the color levels in PS to get that out(though the snow color might be just a little off now but i like it this way). Glad that you liked 'em :)

I really like these... #1 the effect is very nice even though as you said, the snow looks a little dark, but it suits the mood of the shot. The spalshes of red in the next two look great too, I particularly like the fire hydrant. I also like the movement of the snow plough in the others, nice work.
Roger.

Of these two images, I like the first a little better than the abstract below that. The use of the strong red and green colors heighten the interest (tension).
Both have good composition, and all of your shots have nailed the exposure quite correctly.

From these two, I wil only comment on the bench. Very good compostion.
Exposure is excellent.

Since everyone liked the bench shot the most, i thought i should maybe rework it a little and remove the tree behind the bench which was maybe a little distracting. Im posting the reworked image here. What do you guys think? Which one works better?

That's good. Until you removed it, I hadn't noticed it.

Nice rework...good idea taking out that tree...if I may suggest, you might consider also touching up that one brown spot in the top of the frame behind the top of the bench close to where the tree was that you took out.

Thanks guys. I guess it does look better now. Robert, ill remove that spot as well, would be a quick fix. Hurried up the last one so probably missed that out, thanks for pointing it out :)

I think it's because the snow shows so well on it, not overexposed or blown out, you did really well :)
Just can't wait till we get more snow, we had a teaser few weeks back, but lasted all of 1 day haha.

Well we got a mutual admiration society going on then :-P I've also started getting serious about Photography from the past 2 months or so though i've had the camera for around 8 months now. POTN was what i required for that push, have been reading a lot and learning all i can from the talented people here.

Although, I sadly don't own a Canon, I'm sure glad I'm still welcome here none the less. I love coming on here to get loads of inspiration from the top guys, and to improve my work.
The pointers you can pick up from here is also very very good. I've learnt a fair bit since I joined POTN, and I'm sure as hell not gonig anywhere for a while
