This guy let me approach and sit down rather close. It might be the same one that I posted having the 'Long Neck Fun' from the day before.

A fine catch ! IMO the No#3 is a clear winner, great framing.

I think you probably had to contend with tricky light which might have robbed the bird of some exposure.

I agree. The white feathers on the lower jaw below the eye tend to be the first place for blown out highlights on a GBH. So I adjusted my shutter speed one step faster to get rid of the blinkies there. But in this case there was more light on his head so the body came out darker. ;)

Great shots.....all three. The last one is my favourite but #1 is very close behind. If it was mine I would be tempted to remove just a bit of shadow in #1 .

Love that last reflection shot. Certainly is a great looking bird. Great looking plumage.
