According to Canon their Photo Paper Pro (excellent but expensive) has a 25 year life time. I called Red River Paper and asked about their photo paper's life time, and the rep told me that it's the ink, not the paper, which determines the life time.

This doesn't look right to me. Obviously the paper has a crucial role.
Any suggestions?

I agree with you. From what I understand the paper will also be a factor: how much rag content, bleaching agents, etc. will be relevant as well as the ink.
