Well, I've been lurking around here for a while, but hey, let's also show some pictures. These are of Bettie Serveert, about two weeks ago in Tivoli, Utrecht, NL. It was a semi-acoustic setting, with the audience sitting on chairs (which is quite strange for a band that usually plays pretty loud ;)). Anyway, the pictures:

These are crisp shots! I like them, and the first one seems to have been taken in a studio. I love the fifth shot - that Tyndall Effect really sets the mood. Welcome to the forum!

Thanks BottomBracket. For liking them, for the welcome, and last but not least for letting me do a search and find out what the 'Tyndall Effect' is. :D

Nice work Martin - am I the only one who is seeing the similarity between betty and Deborah Harry?

They do look a bit alike. Thanks for clearing it up RockSlut, it has been nagging me a bit. I love Deborah Harry - one of my rock star crushes when I was growing up.

That's the "McCann Effect" and the pictures are nice. Any reason you only have close ups of two of the five musicians?

Thank you all. It's not that I only have close-ups of two of them, I just didn't really look at a fair distribution when posting, just selected some nice images regardless of who was on them. ;) Here's the rest:

Oh and by the way, it's not Bettie that looks like Deborah Harry, the singer is called Carol van Dyk. Bettie Serveert means "Bettie to serve", inspired on a dutch tennis player of a while back.

Would that be Bettina Bunge? Oh wait I think she's German, anyway, she's one of my crushes when I was young :)

Dwight, it's the McCann effect again! Looks like your royalties are piling up :)

No, it's Bettie Stove, apparently (but that was before I was born) she played in the Wimbledon finals in 1977 (and lost).

I really hope the McCann effect isn't secretly copyrighted.... ;)

Well, I'm an OSS kind of guy so the copyright wouldn't be a problem, Martijn, but it is simply the result of Bottom and I bantering about the use of smoke machines in a lot of my live entertainment images here. Just to be on the safe side I hereby grant unlimited license (without transfer of copyright) for use of the "McCann Effect" to Martijn Zuidweg for use in any and all images.

Drummers are always tough to shoot. I have sometimes walked up on the side of the stage to gain advantage in getting clear shots. While this is not usually possible with big headliners (they only want you to shoot them anyway), the smaller groups or those who operate as an integrated band seem to understand.

My final observation is that I really like the table lamp that the keyboardist has to his right ... almost like he was playing in an old home. Very good shots and I look forward to seeing more as events permit.

Very nice shots, you've captured what looks like a very relaxed gig, good pics all of them.
Roger.
