Hi,

I am on a tight budget but want to upgrade from my 380EX flash. I am using a new 10D camera. What is the current thought on the compatibility of the Sigma flash and the 10D?

Thanks,
Brian

The "new" DG-models from sigma is fully compatible with the 10D. And yes, the Sigma EF 500 DG Super works great with the 10D. I'm used to the old A-TTL system since i also use an 1N and a 430 EZ. But with E-TTL and FP-flash i really like flashphotography now.

So get the Sigma EF 500 DG Super, its like an EX 500 but for ½ price.

Works great for me too. I have two gripes though. There is no HV socket for an external batterypack; one must be custom fabricated. Secondly, in HSS mode, you are better off shooting in manual to make sure that it doesn't disengage itself. The instant the shutter speed drops below 1/200 HSS will disengage itself. The Canon units will stay on HSS until you turn it off.

I don't have any experience with wireless E-TTL, but I've been told that the ST-E2 will function with the Sigma EF 500 DG Super.

Yes, it supposed to work well with the 10D. I have the cheaper Sigma EF500 DG ST flash, which also works beautifully with my 10D. You can read some of my thought at http://www.trsqr.net/photo/ if you're interested.
