blowing up photos

i was thinking today about enlarging some of my photos, when i do it on the computer fairly larg there is some blur and things just dont look quite right, to enlarge photos fairly large what kind of equiptment should be used, what lenses, and what bodies, or what should be avoided, if thats easier.

What size are you going to enlarge to?
Are you talking about the digital image or the printed image?
What program are you using to make your photos "Larger"?

What lens and camera you have doesn't really matter since you already have your photos.
