Hey guys, I have a bunch on really neat pictures I've taken in various parts of the world .. some of them are located on Earthcrawl.Com , but for I'm trying to decide if I should open a shop to sell them out of or sell them on consignment (where they take roughly 33% of the sale) obviously each choice has prows and cons, but I was thinking that my style wouldn't look that great in the galleries around here b/c I'm in Louisiana and most of the galleries here are fine art and more traditional styles ... Does anyone have any experiance in this area ?

If it were me, I would see how they sell on consignment before opening my own shop. If you look to open your own shop out of your house and online, your overhead will be very low, all you would have to put into it is time and advertising, but if you are planning to rent a space and open a shop, youve got a lot more to take into consideration, and a lot more risk. Just a few thoughts.

There should be a number of forums or books, and many seminars on selling your photos. I would google for seminars and workshops. Many community colleges have continuing education classes to start your own business. In the short run it might pay to do a consignment to see if there is any interest.

I did see an online service that will show your work and sell it. The name escapes me, but it might pay to explore options before opening your own store/shop. It may provide a larger customer base. What ever you choose best of wishes for success.
