Weary commuters just want to get home after a tiring day at work. I hope the NYC Transit strike doesn't push through tomorrow. If it does, the whole city's transit system will shut down, which will force millions of commuters to seek alternative transportation. It will cripple the city in the midst of the Christmas season.
Taken at a subway station in Brooklyn, NYC.

Nice shot I like it! It seems slightly soft or OOF to me though, maybe just because of the web reduction, maybe try a bit of sharpening??

Nice shot there BB,
What makes this photo so good is that each person has a story and behind that theres a another story,The old man chilled out not too worryed about getting home,
The man biting his nails, The man looking into the jacket, And the woman just looking like shes is asleep, Each person has there own briefing :)

Thanks for looking and for the comments, folks. This was actually a rescued pic, the horizontals and verticals were really off and I had to use the Transform tool. This was shot at high ISO and from the hip, as it was taken during the time when subway photo-taking was looked upon by authorities several months ago (now they lightened up a bit). It was an imperfect and flawed shot to begin with, as most street photographs go :)

I actual believe this is an art installation from Dinos and Jake Chapman portraying beautifully a decaying urban unfrastructure overlayed with the banality of everyday life. Such is the captured perfection of their vision of contemporary NYC.
Mr BB., do you carry your camera around at all times? Now I'm down to just a few 'urban essentials' MF lenses I'm thinking of doing that, taking a different lens each day. Good training in a new form. I think I need to get a fast 24mm or 35mm too!

Thanks for looking Condyk, you're so funny :) Yes, I always bring a camera with me. On the times when I I can't lug around my dSLR (which is most of the time) I bring my G6, which is a great camera for street photography. That's a great idea about shooting with only one MF prime a day. It will really force you to think about your shots and familiarize you with that focal length thoroughly. Good idea about the 24 or 35 mm, but don't forget about the 28mm too.
By the way this was shot with my 20d with 17-40, blindly from the waist.
Edit: Forgot to add, the strike is on today. Now getting to and around the city will be extremely difficult. Merry Christmas to us. :(

Great shot, the B&W add more feeling to this very quiet time. It seems that each person has their own story... Well done!

Yeah, we've all been left in the lurch by public transport at some time: helps in empathising with these folks ...

Rive, Dwight, Stone, Bal, thanks for looking and the kind words. Dwight, yes I do have a few pics of the strike and will be posting them soon. Sorry I am kinda scarce on POTN the last few days, it has been quite hectic here lately.
