My wife was browsing the various "Photo Sharing" forums and pointed out how beautiful some of the I/R photographs were. I then did a search for "Infra Red" and found very few photos compared to comments regarding I/R photography.
She suggested "why not have it's own section?"
I think this is an excellent idea, if it isn't too much trouble to administer and set up.
Any other users have thoughts on the subject?
(I know what CDS might say..... His Olympic photos were fabulous!)
Thanks for listening

If it has lot of support then why not. But even if photo is infrared it does have content, and forum has share section divided mostly by content. Easiest solution would be that all infrared posts would have "Infrared " in title, this would make it easy to search for them.

Personally I'm actually happy with the IR in "B&W and Experimental" section.. even if the techniques are a little different we are striving for similar effects,. something different and more well,.. "experimental" than some other catagories.
Also,. there are so few IR images being posted,.. that it's own catagory might look a little lonely too...
Using advanced search,. A search for "IR" in the titles of the Sharing forums gets good results...

In that search you'll see that all but two IR images were posted in the experimental forum.. (recycled by the way is old archive from when "sharing"" was a single catagory a few years back)
On the flipside,. I have noticed that creating sections seems to draw more people into the subject matter.. not sure how or why. I just see the correlation. We used to see "Nature" getting maybe about 15-20% of the images being "macro" type images,. no more than that.. maybe less.
Soon after the "Macro" forum was created though,. this type of image post skyrocketed.. and now is very well populated.
P.S.
Thanks for the kind words. :)

If an individual has gone to the trouble of buying an "I/R" camera, then would those photos be deemed experimental? :p I would then suggest that "Infra Red" be included in the group description EG: Still Life, B/W, Infra Red & Experimental (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=31). It would also help the poster trying to decide which section to post in.
I tried your link and received :-
Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms. (hehehe)
I agree with you with regard to the different categories as I/R could be construed as being B&W, but, if for example the photgraph was a landscape, which included various animals in the serengetti, then surely the photograph could be posted in either "Travel & Landscapes (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=28)", "Nature & Animals (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=29)" or "Still Life, B/W & Experimental (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=31)" but the overiding factor would still be that it was INFRA RED, which is why as suggested at least Infra red be included in the category heading.
These are just ideas/suggestions, and not me trying to force the issue... hehehe I would still love you all even if nothing changed! I appreciate that it could be more work and effort on the part of the moderators and as such, I'm very appreciative of the effort you guys put in already and would not want to increase the moderators workload.
Thanks for listening

I agree in principal but as infrared can be spelled I/R, Infra-red infrared or infra red, it would involve quite a few searches.
Just an idea, thanks for listening.

Hi Adrian, I share your passion for Infra-Red photography ;)
I started this thread earlier in the week, which is proving quite popular.
