Hi

I print or download my snapshots to a compact disk, but to read or look at the photo's I have to open each one indivually unless I'm using a late edition windows, i.e. XP. I've used powerpoint to produce slide shows but it is cumbersome to use and really the results are a bit over the top.

Is there a simple program out there that could be used instead of powerpoint to make effective shows on C.D. Buy the way I'm from New Zealand and our choice of software is quite limited unless you are happy with Bill's overpriced offerings.

If you are using Photoshop 7,it has a nice little gallery creation feature. You're limited to the preset formats, but I have used it on occasion successfully. I'm not sure if Elements has the same feature. I have heard that there are other gallery creation programs out there, but I have not used any and cannot comment on those.

For me, it was important to be able to insert avi clips into the slide show (not all of them do it) and I settled on Cyberlink MediaShow. This (and other programs) allow a free, limited download for trial purposes. I suggerst that you try some to see with what you are comfortable.

Good comparisons, the iZotope Photonshow looks like a goer. Thank goodness for the net I'm able to buy from the US at a much cheaper price than locally.
My S45 cost around $1000 NZ ($460 US) less than what it would of if I brought it here.
Yep, the first place I seen the camera it was priced at $2150 NZ.

My recommendation for the best slideshow creator, with the ability for the best wipes and effects, synchronised to music/wave files/mp3, that can burn direct to CD as .exe or vcd is CompuShow from photodex.com - you can download a trial, and it's absolutely awesome...

onehotrx7 - I'm a bit confused. Photodex sells ProShow and CompuPic but not anything called CompuShow. To which one of these are you referring? I downloaded ProShow and found it to the best slide show program that I have seen (as you suggest for "CompuShow") but sadly it does not support avi film clips within a slide show.

Compushow Pro Pic 7??? :-) Pro Show was the one... I meant it more for Nibby, who didn't mention AVI files, just snapshots...

I use win xp.
As long windows detects an image inside the folder, or set the folder as 'my pictures' an option on the left taskbar: Picture Task and under it: View as a Slide Show.

So for me: just one click and your off! :D

And when you use windows xp to write the pictures on a blank CD, it will prompt if you would want to also include a simple picture viewer/slide show viewer along. Very user-friendly if you ask me.

But thats just me and I know you don't like ol'Bill's products. (I also have adobe photo album)

Go and take a look at JAlbum at www.datadosen.se. It's a website creator and one of the standard websites included is a slideshow. You can burn it on CD and best of all....... the software is free!!
