Low Light Focusing with Pro90

Help! Has anyone found a solution to the low light focusing problems of the Pro90? Using Pan Focus for scenic shots helps some but is not the total solution.

I am thinking of copying the distance chart in the manual and taping it to the bottom of the camera since the bar chart visible during manual focus is almost useless to me.

I am also having problems with low light and my Pro90. Does anyone know if the low light focus improves with the external flash??

My 10s would use the flash to focus on with AF mode.

Yes, the Pro90 low light focusing is pretty bad. I havent found a way around it yet and I sure do wish it was a focusing ring rather than a push button to do manual focusing. The good thing is I dont have to do too much low light so it isnt a travesty, just a hassle.
I havent bought a external flash yet so Im sort of curious about this as well.

Unfortunately, the Pro90 can not use the focus asist light on some of the EX series flashes based on posts I have seen on dpreview:( I will continue to experiment to see if I can come up with a way to improve low light focus of the Pro90.

i have had my 90 for less than a week and experienced the low light level focus problem too, so i decided to spend the 299 to buy the 420ex speedlite and it still has the problem, im no expert and hopefully im not using the flash right, so if anyone has any imput about the flash and how to use correctly plz reply (and yes i read the instructions)

Hi Chipper,

Unfortunately, neither the G1 or the Pro90 can use the focus assist light on the EX series flashes. Go to the message from Roy Hooper on dpreview and follow the link to suggested Pro90 improvements.

Be sure to vote for the focus assist item by clicking on its link and pushing the vote button. If enough of us ask Canon for help we might get a firmware update that improves this frustrating situation.
