How to make photo sharp?

I got surprised after seeing the photo gallery by Pekka Saarinen.

How can the photo being so "sharp" after resized to be 50% smaller?

Are they being retouched by photo editing software?

No one can answer this question except yourself and now I understand that all photos have never been retouched by any software.

However, can I know which software you used to 'resize' them to be 50% smaller?

To my experience, any picture being resized should be blurred. People should use "sharpen" filter to fine tone it, so how about you?

That's why nik's Sharpen Pro selling so expensive...
