Sweet. I've been waiting for this camera to be announced. Rumor was that it will be more beastly than the D800. Unfortunately (for me) Sony doesn't have the great lens selection Nikon has. So we'll see. I'm excited.

I got half way through typing a response to that, then I realized.... they only have the following: 16-35, 24-70, 70-200, 300, a nice 24,
everything else could use an...'update' we will call it.
Still, id consider jumping ship if they ever got a weather resistant 50mm....
Sony does make serious imaging systems, they just don't do much with them. if my dad didn't suggest to me to check out a canon 7D a few years back, i very likely would have picked up an A900....

I am amazed how much Canon and Nikon shooters know about the A-mount. The lens selection is far larger than you have written pyrojim. How about a 35mm f1,4G, the 70-400mm G is more than on par with the Canon 100-400L. The Zeiss 85mm is simply awesome, the 135mm STF is the ultimate bouquet machine and obviously the 500mm f4 G, although that is quite a bit overpriced, but the IQ is almost perfect.
And obviously you forget that there is a huge legacy of Minolta lenses which are a class of its own. The Minolta 1x-3x Macro, 17-35mm G, 28-70mm G or 85mm f1.4G to name just a few.
Is Sony lacking lenses in their lineup? Sure, they do, and both Canon and Nikon have the edge here. But they are adressing this and we should see quite a lot of new lenses coming out with the A99 like the rumored 50mm f1,2 Carl Zeiss lens.
And once the A99 comes out, the tides might change quite a lot. Per the latest rumors this cam will be a beast, with super fast AF, never before seen video features in a DSLR and a reasonable price tag.
