I happen to have EXACTLY the same setup with you. I bougt that lens because I was a newbie and was stupid to listen to the saleman at the local photo shop, who told me it was a great lens. It's NOWHERE near great in terms of quality. It is great for versatility (the awesome zoom range) and light weight. I was never happy with the images that it produced. Even the crappy and much cheaper Sigmas (not the EX series) can produce better photos. Ever since I got some Canon lenses, the Tamron had been on the shelf collecting dust in my room. My advice for you is to get a regular 50mm F/1.8 lens from Canon. It should cost you about $70 if you buy it online. You'll be much happier with your photos from the 10D.
