I have a A95 that I'm happy with. The only thing I have a problem with is red eye. I was wondering how the S2 with the flash up higher is with red eye. Would I see a big enough improvement in the reduction of red eye to justify upgrading.

Popup flashes do not get rid of red eye. Because they do no go high enough. Next time you go to a wedding. Look at the photographer his/her flash is about a foot about the camera.

Some cameras have removal, but that's probably not so great. Most cameras have red eye reduction, which causes a pre-flash (slowing you picture taking down) and this closes the pupils a little. You can check the canon web site, but I think all cameras have this feature now.

The S2 has the reduction, but I still get red eye pretty bad on mine. Seems like there's just no way around it. Just have to remove it later in an editing program

Agreed that the S2 flash isn't really high enough/diffuse enough to not cause red-eye, but I have been pretty pleased at how minimal it is overall (with reduction turned on) for people... but cats are another matter entirely! The red-eye reduction doesn't seem to have much effect on green-eye or gold-eye syndrome in kitty pix.
