A few images from a swim meet. Lighting is always horrible at swim meets.

Thanks

Jim

i love the first picture, simply because of the way the water is

I have thought about shooting swimming but I really have no idea how I would shoot it except for at extreme angles like above or actually as low as I could go to the surface of the water... since I don't have access to either... I have passed on it. But it is something I would like to learn. You've done well with a sport that seems to me to be one of the toughest to shoot and really tell the story.

Cheers.

Hi Croasdail,

Really the most difficult aspect of swimming is the lighting. The past three or four swim meets that I have shot, had a mixture of light ( Sunlight, Tungsten, and Fluorescent and sometimes I use a flash). I always shoot raw when dealing with a combination of light sources.

Thanks for your post.

Jim

Agreed. I think the first picture is awesome too. 'Head on' shots always look the best in sport...

I just shoot my first swim meet. Just got the camera on Tuesday shot this on Saturday with my first dslr the Canon 20D. I prefer the shots without the flash. Her is one shot with the 85 1.8.
