I had a great weekend! The kids were with their dad, so I was free to do as I pleased. Of course, I chose to attend a total of SIX basketball games on Friday and Saturday. We had four varsity/JV games and a couple of girls' Fresh-Soph games on Saturday morning. Here are a few from the Red Hill game on Friday night. I used the 20D and the 85mm f/1.8 for all of them.

#1 This was from the JV game. The ball handler is a small kid, but he's absolutely ferocious on the court. And, boy, is he ever fast!

#2 A shot of one of the twins from the varsity game.

#3 This is my "mirror image" shot. This child and the boy in the background are identical twins. I've been trying to get a shot of them and their older brother all in the same frame during a game, but they move much too quickly!

#4 This is a request from Dwight, who asked that I post a cheerleader picture for a change. :) Like all of our cheer squad, this girl is very sweet.

Liza, Nice work again. Are yoy shooting in RAW? Your WB allways looks good. Are you shooting a custom WB off a card? I shot some basketball last week and really struggled. Someone allways seems to be in the way. Hey, I even know what a Saluki is.

Thanks. I always shoot in RAW using AWB and then process using Raw Shooter Essentials. I don't have too much trouble with people getting in the way, since I shoot from the sidelines, although I do get an occasional ref's butt in the frame. This gym was great to shoot in, as the spectators entered the seats from the stairs and never entered the actual gym floor area.

Great images. Which lens do you find yourself using the most?

.... I'm always looking for pointers.

nice work, i really like the second picture, the last one is good too, seems very traditional or something like that.

Thanks. I use the 85mm f/1.8 most of the time, but sometimes pull out the 50mm 1.8 for under the basket shots and the 100mm f/2.0 if I want to get a little closer.

Wow, impressive gym for a high school. On the second shot I would almost go with a tighter crop if the image allows for it... it looks like a nice capture.

Thanks, Mark! You're the second person to suggest the alternative crop. I'm going to have to re-edit it. I got in a bit of a hurry editing a select few to make the newspaper deadline, so I've only begun to really get into all the other ones. Not only do I have seven games' worth of images to edit, I also have a paid portrait shoot to process that I squeezed in on Saturday afternoon between games.
