Hello,

I recently purchased a Canon A520 and I am trying to get acquainted with the camera. I have taken several shots indoor in AUTO mode which includes red-eye reduction, however I still get significant red-eye and have to edit the pics with the supplied software to correct the red-eye. This is a rather tedious process if it needs to be done for many indoor pics. Do more experienced users have any shooting tips to avoid red-eye? I know that Red-Eye reduction is not fool proof but I thought it would at least help a little. I still get the same recurrence of Red-eye as my cheapo 35mm.

Also what are good sources for Beginners Digital Photography (books, web sites, etc) where I can learn the basics.

Thanks,

Vasilios

Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson is an excellent book to learn the basics of photography. I consider it a reference.

With a 520 you will have some red eye. The reductions is probably a pre flash which should close the pupils. But this is not always the best thing. I suggest you get irfanview (irfanview.com) and learn to fix it with that, or googles Picasa is free and can do it also. Unless you already have photoshop which does a fine job.
