hi all,
when i plugged this camera into the usb port on my computer (w2k sp4) i was expecting to see the camera appear as a new storage device that i could browse with windows explorer. this did not happen.
is there any way to make this camera appear as a storage device? i'd rather _not_ use the bundled software.
in case you are wondering, yes, the driver is installed and transferring works fine with the bundled software.
peace,
david

I had some problems accessing my pictures in the past when directly connecting my canon camera to my computer. So I just use a $8 little card reader from walmart, also makes life easier when juggling multiple memory cards.

thanks for the tip. already have one. i want to be able to use the usb method with computers i sometimes visit that don't have a reader.
how did you resolve your problems?

well, specifically I had to leave the camera on in order to access the photos on the card while it was in the camera. I never really fixed the problem.. I just bought a cheap little reader that plugs straight into the usb, no cords or anything.

one potential complication -
Usually I download directly from camera, especially if less than 20 new photos.
With more I use the card reader. However, next time I download from camera it does not recognize the card reader downloads and wants to download the large batch.
every time you wan tto download from camera -after using card reader (and not deleting the photos from SD card) you have to use the last option on the down load screen - select photos to download

I use the SD slot on my HP psc2210 all in one to transfer the photos to my computer. Seem to work fine.
