My usual team were not playing due to a frozen pitch so a quick call to the paper and I was off to another game
Using my Sigma 120-300 for the first time in decent conditions it looks like it will prove to be an excellant purchase

Very nicely done! That last one is priceless. I really want this lens for football. Guess I'll have to start shooting weddings to support my sports lens addiction.

Nice work saggy... looks like a fine lens. Good to see Mr O'Boyle in action as well - he spent a good deal of his playing career in Scotland didn't he? Far removed from those old Linfield vs Glentoran days

Cheers Gavin
I am still a little unhappy at the exposure and have been told that this lens likes to have the exposure dialled up a bit +1/3 EC or so so next time out I will give it a go
unfortunatly the pitch was half and half bright sunlight and shade on saturday so I shot in AV mode although Manual is somehting I am looking to start using more nowadays
Mr O,Boyle played senior up here for many years before a small matter a white powder in a pub toilet put paid to his career
but he now turns out in the local leagues

At this time of year there's no easy answer... harsh low sun, shadows.. Av can sometimes be the best bet.

Oh Boy... that explains it. A flared-nostril experience...
