Hey I was just wondering what other people made of the on-off swtich on the bottom of the 350D battery grip.... I left the bloody thing on last night and got to a shoot this morning and found that it was dead.. now that's planning. Lucky I had my backup camera. I can't really figure out why they have a serperate switch when the camera has an on-off switch anyway.. any ideas?

I believe the on off switch on the grip only turns the grip button functions on or off. i don't think they drain any battery power...at least mine doesn't. do you have your camera set to shut off?

He's right. The switch on the grip only turns the grip functions on or off. The camera switch controls power to the camera. There's no drain on the batteries even with the grip switch on. I leave mine on all the time.

Same here, I always leave mine on and no excess battery drain problems.

The only way leaving the grip's switch set to "On" would drain the battery is if you then stowed the camera somewhere so that the grip's shutter release (or one of the other control buttons) was partly depressed, leaving the camera "on" and unable to go into Sleep mode.

i think that must be the answer Jon. I am usually pretty careful about leaving anything turned on but have noted on the odd ocassion that I have failed to turn the camera off. I think that on this ocassion I must have put the camera away in it's bag with something depressed, not allowing the camera to go into sleep mode. I just recharged my batteries and tried the camera again and there doesn't appear to be any power loss... fingers crossed that there won't be any.. i'll keep monitoring it.

Thanks heaps for your feedback peeps
