And I was looking at the Canon SD450 and the Panasonic DMC-FX9

I posted a similar question regarding the SD400 and only received on reply. Must be a fairly inactive group here.

I researched the crap out of alot of compact cameras in its price range(SD450's range)and I ended up getting SD450 just few days ago.
One downside so far, I don't like the weight. I am more used to super compact that weighs alot less, so this shouldn't be a problem for everyone.
Manual adjustability is limited, but if you are looking for a good point and shoot camera, this camera will do the job very well. Screen is huge, and shake warning system can be real handy.
Few pics I took so far, came out pretty good. Macro performance was satisfying. Purple fringing is there, and yes, I notice it in many pictures(when I get sensitive). but its something that most point-n-shoot camera buyers won't really have to worry too much about. If you are looking into professional printing or digital photography, you shouldn't look for a ultra-compact/compact point-n-shoot cameras anyway.
This is one handy camera that does what it supposed to do. I am satisfied, and will buy canon again. (I came from Nikon/Sony/Samsung cameras)
