:(

How new is the lens? (we know thae camera is new)

Did you try cleaning the electrical contacts on the lens?

I've not heard mention of problems with this particular combination on this forum. Something is definately not right.

Do you know if the lens works on other cameras?

If they are both new I think a trip to your dealer is definately in order.

Yes I have done three other bodies. There is apparently an issue with the 10D and the IS lens. I fiound there are other photogs having the same issue on a couple of professional websites.

Thank you,

Don

None of the professional message sites I'm on has had any complaints about this lens and the 10D. In fact I have read numours comments about how good this lens is, even with the 10D. I'm getting a 70-200 2.8L IS pretty soon to replace my 70-200 4.0L (which works great with my 10D) so I read any thing that refers to this lens. I would say your problem is an isolated case and could be a problem with the lens or the camera.

Section 6 - D60-Specific Information
6.1. What do all the error codes mean?
NOTE: Unlike the D30, the D60 has only five error codes.
„h Err 01: LENS COMMUNICATION
DESCRIPTION: This error occurs in the following conditions:
When electronic communication with the lens cannot be established, after the EOS D60 is powered ON or when the shutter button is pressed halfway.
When the lens diaphragm cannot be controlled during shutter release.
REMEDIAL MEASURE: Clean the electronic contacts on the lens with a clean, soft, dry cloth and check the mount interface switch on the body's lens mount for dirt or other damage. If this does not solve the problem, try another Canon EF lens or have the EOS D30 examined by a qualified service technician. This error is similar to Error 84 on the D30.
