miniDV tapes

I have a Canon ZR300 dv. Are mini dv tapes equal in quality? What is difference between a $3, $4, $5 tape.(don't say a dollar) TDK has a 10 for $31.99 pack.I don't want cheap stuff. What tapes are you using? I realize this is a digital forum. Thanks.

We Use panasonic 83 Minute tapes, part number is AY-DVM83PQ. I think they are about $9 each though.
I've used pretty much all brands and they all seem pretty much the same, but I don't use the tapes over and over to record with. whatever I record stays on the tape and I usually capture the stuff onto the computers and put the tapes into storage.
Some of my oldest footage is about 5 years old on Sony tape and still plays back with no drop outs.

i use the sony brand but I did read that you shoudl try and stick to the same brand due to the fact that each manufacturer uses different lubricants (wet/dry) and mixing them can sometimes cause problems. I'm no pro, so this could be phony info.

now, I'm not going to pick on you for asking this on a still photography forum because it's the holiday season. ;)
