I took this picture of my daughter Sapha, she was in one of her "daydreams" when I snapped her!
One of the last images from my G2 before the 10D arrives.

Im a newbie btw :/
Thanks in Advance

and I really like the BW one :)
btw, use [ img ] http://www.myimage.com/myimage.jpg [/ img ] (but without the spaces...if I used spaces, the forums would've thought it was a picture..)

Fantastic! The only quirk I have is the haloing effect that is up her back and around her arm. The white area along the right should be removed somehow and the highlight on her arm is overblown. I see an opportunity for a pop-out by having the rose off the canvas and here arm reaching out for it. Just an idea. Otherwise very beautiful.

Conk,
How did you acheive the effect of your daughter being so sharp and the background so out of focus?
Normally, I would say depth of field, but in this case it looks like she is not in the original setting, or you have manipulated only the background, in effect "cutting her out" to make it more dramatic.
What did you do?
Either way, I love it.

Looks like a guassian blur with only the background selected,.. or else some delicate work with the history brush :)

CyberDyneSystems:
You are correct, I took the photo and then applied the gaussan blur to the background.

Beautifull photo,.... I assumed the radiosity around the hand was intentional,.. sort of the "hand of god/ magic touch" sort of an effect. Bu it may be a result of a feathering of pixels along the selection line during the blur.
Really spectacular. I have no aptitude for portraits what so ever.

The girl is lovely .. but IMHO the PS play... both the blurring and the red rose spoil the shot.

The soft blurring effect was intended, it looked better than the normal picture, just hasnt been implemented perfectly and looking at it now the rose could do with a tidy up. Many thanks for the feedback friends.

stoneh, if you are getting incredibly sharp images like this out of your G2, the 10D will be overkill or an amazing tool for your arsenal. Spectacular job!

I agree. Look at the detail on the hair.
Great shot Stoneh!
